Walk Cycle Figure Motion Intensive (2-week 2-session class with homework review) (August 20th & 27th, 5:30pm-9:00pm Pacific time)

CLASS SYNOPSIS

A two-week two-session (with homework review) class focused on studying walks from figure motion reference, and learning how to adapt principles understood through study of real world movement to animated characters.

CLASS TIMES/DATES
August 20th & 27th, 5:30pm-9:00pm Pacific time - TWO 4 hour class sessions with a half hour break.

CLASS BREAKDOWN

This class is TWO sessions, meeting over a period of two weeks, with homework review. Each session of the two-week class runs roughly about 4 hours with short breaks, and possibly a mid-class break. (Which doesn't count against the total time.)

For session 1, students will get an overview of the mechanics of walk cycles, and be lead through a motion study where they adapt live action footage into a looping walk cycle.

Homework: Students will then receive homework assignments to work on and submit for the following week, which will consist of live action walk study, and original 'invented' walks they design that utilize the principles they learned and observed from. Throughout the week, the students can submit their work for feedback and pointers by the instructor.

For session 2, students will receive live feedback and draw-over fixes on their animations, along with further workshop time allowing them opportunity to make the fixes in their work, and further develop their skills.

Students should come away from the class with a framework to continue studying and progressing on their own, using the power of live action footage reference as a tool for understanding and problem-solving the mechanics of walks (and other actions!) for use in their artistic work.

CLASS RECORDING

Each session of the class is recorded. About 1-2 weeks after the class concludes, students will be given a download or stream link for an edited version of the class sessions.

HOW TO GET IN THE CLASS

If you have signed up for the paid class, please notify Spacedad in DMs on discord with a pictured copy of your receipt, or send me an email at stcldan@gmail.com - I'll be adding you manually to a discord role for the class session. The class session will happen in a discord voice chat room that only those in the class session have access to. (My discord invite link: https://discord.gg/spacedad-s-spaceclub-783932860042182677 )

The instructor (Spacedad) will try to get individualized feedback to every student during the course of the session.

The class is run through discord and will be recorded and uploaded for the covnenience of students.

I am taking on a total of TEN students. Gumroad limits the # of purchases and lists how many are currently enrolled in the class on this page.
